In wrestling—one of the fastest-growing girls’ sports—young women are redefining what strength looks like. They train with grit, compete with heart, and push the boundaries of what’s possible. Their presence on the mat not only elevates the sport but also opens doors for the next generation who see them and think, “That could be me.” Celebrating women in sports means recognizing their resilience, amplifying their achievements, and ensuring equal opportunities for all athletes to grow, compete, and lead. Today and every day, we honor the athletes, coaches, and supporters who continue to champion progress and pave the way for future trailblazers.

Senior Spotlight Aojun Speers Aojun Speers, who wrestles in the 127-pound weight class, has been part of the program for three years. Off the mat, Aojun competed in cross country for two seasons. He is considering college after graduation and offers this advice to future wrestlers: “Focus on the small things and keep building. When you feel like you’ve reached your limit, take one more step beyond that.” His favorite quote comes from Doug Zapf at camp: “What are you willing to sacrifice?” Aojun thanks his coaches and everyone who supported him throughout his years on the team.

Senior Spotlight Brayden Sigle Brayden Sigle, a captain of the boys’ varsity team in the 139-pound weight class. His favorite memory is winning regionals and celebrating with a trip to Dairy Queen. Brayden has earned four Chesmont championships, a regional title, and surpassed 100 career wins. He plans to major in business and finance and continue wrestling at the collegiate level. His advice to future wrestlers is, “Always have fun.” Brayden thanks his mom, dad, and family for always being there for him, and his coaches and teammates for constantly pushing him to improve.

Senior Spotlight Anielo Schinchirmni Anielo Schinchirmni, a captain of the boys’ varsity team in the 145-pound weight class, is escorted tonight by his family. His favorite memory is traveling to hotels for wrestling tournaments, and his favorite coach is Cory “because he looks like me.” After graduation, Anielo plans to join the Air Force as a medic and pursue a career as a doctor. His advice to future wrestlers is: “You’ll only remember the good parts,” and his favorite quote is, “Believe in the me that believes in you.” Anielo’s humor and energy have brought so much fun to the team, and he will truly be missed.
