Downingtown West Varsity Rolls to 49–19 Victory After DMS Dominates Pierce

The Downingtown wrestling program had a full and successful night on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The evening began with DMS rolling to a dominant 66–15 victory over Pierce, continuing their undefeated season, followed by a series of JV bouts that gave our athletes valuable mat time.

Varsity then closed out the night with a strong team performance on the road, earning a 49–19 win at West Chester Henderson. Downingtown West set the tone early, opening the dual with six straight victories. Shaefer Hoffman started things off with a first‑period pin, followed by Mason Sigle’s 32‑second fall at 114. Patrick Markey added a technical fall at 121, shutting out his opponent 17–0. Although Henderson picked up its first points at 127, momentum quickly returned to the Whippets when Michael Landrum scored a pin at 133 and Ben Hall earned another tech fall at 139. Brayden Sigle added a fall at 145 to push the lead to 34–3.

After a Henderson major decision at 152, Downingtown West continued to control the meet. Merhawy Williams battled through a tight 160‑pound match to win 11–9, and Nate Letscher followed with a lightning‑quick 38‑second pin at 172. Finn McGovern added another fall at 189, giving the Whippets a commanding 49–7 lead. Henderson closed out the night with pins at 215 and heavyweight, but Downingtown West’s early surge and bonus‑point production secured the decisive 49–19 final. It was a standout night for our program—from middle school dominance, to JV reps, to varsity executing with toughness and pace across the lineup.
