Downingtown West JV Wraps Up Season with Strong Showing at the 2026 Chester County JV Tournament

The Downingtown West JV wrestling team closed out its season with a strong performance at the 2026 Chester County High School JV Tournament. The Whippets showed grit, growth, and the kind of competitive spirit that continues to strengthen the entire program. Seven of our wrestlers placed, while others battled through brackets and gained valuable match experience to finish their season strong.

Lightweights Set the Tone

At 107 lbs, Joel Pate finished 1–2, earning a consolation‑round decision and pushing two opponents to tie‑breakers.

At 114 lbs, Luke Anthony delivered a dominant run to claim 1st place, going 3–0 with a fall, a major decision, and a 9–3 victory in the finals.

At 121 lbs, Aojun Speers went 0–2 in a tough bracket, gaining important mat time against strong competition, closing out his senior season.

At 127 lbs, Sean Gannon finished 0–2, continuing to build resilience.

Middleweights Bring Energy and Medalists

At 133 lbs, Zachary Teich put together one of the team’s most strongest performances, going 3–1 with a tech fall and two pins on his way to a 2nd‑place medal.

The 139‑lb bracket featured three Whippets:

  • Tristan Pishock went 0–2, wrestling two tight decision matches.

  • Josh Pate finished 2–2, highlighted by a fall and a major decision.

  • Harsh Shah also went 2–2, earning a first‑period pin and a dominant tech fall.

At 145 lbs, Brandon MacInnis delivered a strong comeback effort after an early loss, he tore through the consolation bracket to finish 3rd, going 5–1 with two tech falls and three pins.

Upper Weights Show Depth and Determination

At 152 lbs, Downingtown West earned two medalists:

  • William Posner finished 2nd, going 2–1 with back‑to‑back major decisions.

  • Landon Klein secured 4th, finishing 2–2 with two pins.

At 160 lbs, teammates Liam DeVitis and Henry Russeck both delivered strong outings:

  • DeVitis finished 4th, going 3–2 and opening the day with two lightning‑fast pins.

  • Russeck also went 3–2, earning two pins and a major decision.

At 172 lbs, Adam Crowley finished 1–2, highlighted by a first‑period pin in the consolations.

The 215‑lb bracket featured Justin Cordero and Matt Wright:

  • Cordero went 1–2, earning a decision win and valuable experience.

  • Wright finished 4th, going 2–2 with a pin and a major decision.

A Strong Finish and a Bright Future

This tournament marked the final event of the season for the JV squad, and the coaching staff couldn’t be prouder. From medalists to first‑year wrestlers gaining crucial mat time, every athlete contributed to a season defined by growth, toughness, and steady improvement.
