The Road to Hershey is never easy—and this past weekend at the 2026 Southeast AAA Regional Championships, Downingtown West proved just how tough that road can be.
Only wrestlers who qualified at the district level earned the right to compete at regionals, making this tournament an accomplishment in itself. From there, the stakes rose even higher: only those who placed 5th or better punched their ticket to the PIAA State Championships in Hershey.
Downingtown West rose to the challenge, delivering standout performances and earning multiple state qualifiers as the journey continues.
133 lbs – Brayden Sigle (34–6) | 🥇 Regional Champion
Brayden Sigle was dominant from start to finish, capturing his second Southeast AAA Regional title in impressive fashion. Along the way, he showcased a complete arsenal—earning a fall, a decision, and a major decision before sealing the championship with a hard-fought victory in the finals.
With this performance, Brayden punched his ticket to Hershey and will enter the state tournament as a regional champion.
107 lbs – Shaefer Hoffman (42–3) | 🥈 Runner-Up
Shaefer Hoffman delivered a statement performance at 107 pounds, powering his way to a second-place finish. Hoffman recorded multiple technical falls and a major decision en route to the finals, where he battled to a narrow decision against the top seed.
By finishing on the podium, Shaefer officially earned his place on the Road to Hershey, advancing to the state tournament after an outstanding regional showing.
114 lbs – Mason Sigle (27–14)
Competing in a deep and highly competitive regional bracket, Mason Sigle gained valuable experience on one of the toughest stages in Pennsylvania wrestling. Mason battled through the consolation rounds, earning a hard-fought win and contributing team points while demonstrating grit and perseverance throughout the tournament. Closing out his sophomore season at the regional level, Mason showed continued growth and resilience, laying a strong foundation as he continues his journey on the Road to Hershey in the years ahead.
139 lbs – Michael Landrum (21–16)
Michael Landrum proudly represented Downingtown West at the regional championships, facing strong competition in the preliminary round. Advancing to regionals capped off a solid sophomore season and reflected the consistency and work ethic Michael displayed throughout the year. Competing among the best in the Southeast AAA Region is an accomplishment in itself, and Michael’s experience at this level will serve him well moving forward.
With regionals complete, the journey now turns toward the PIAA State Championships in Hershey. The team will depart Wednesday, with wrestling action beginning Thursday at the Giant Center.
The boys will travel alongside our three girls qualifiers, representing Downingtown West together on the states biggest stage..
