Downingtown West takes on Coatesville, Jan. 28th
/Downingtown West Wrestling made program history on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, as the girls traveled alongside the boys to Coatesville for the first away dual meet in the history of the girls’ program. The night included Girls JV matches, Boys JV, Girls Varsity, and Boys Varsity, creating a true program‑wide event and an incredible atmosphere for both teams.
The girls set the tone early and walked away with a 30–17 varsity victory in their historic debut on the road. Chloe Gahr opened the scoring with a forfeit at 106, followed by Miesha Waller’s technical fall over Downingtown’s Madeline O’Brien at 112 to bring Coatesville briefly into the lead. The Whippets responded with a string of momentum‑shifting performances: Layla Namerow earned a forfeit at 124, and then Avery Dunn and Sarah Pearson delivered back‑to‑back first‑period pins at 130 and 136. Samantha Roworth added another forfeit at 142, pushing the meet out of reach. Though Coatesville closed the gap slightly with a forfeit at 190, the Whippets’ early dominance secured the 30–17 win.
The boys followed with an explosive performance of their own, defeating Coatesville 57–10. Downingtown West opened the dual with six straight victories, starting with pins from Mason Sigle, Patrick Markey, Connor Schwanke, and Michael Landrum, followed by a gritty one‑point decision from Cole Harlan and another fall from Brayden Sigle. Coatesville picked up decisions at 152 and 160, but the Whippets immediately re‑established control as Nate Letscher and Finn McGovern added two more pins at 172 and 189. After a major decision at 215 gave Coatesville their final points of the night, heavyweight Ryder Harlan answered with a dominant first‑period fall. Shaefer Hoffman closed the dual with a 44‑second pin at 107, sealing the 57–10 victory and completing an impressive team performance.
It was a night to remember for Downingtown West — a historic first for the girls’ program and a dominant showing from both squads.
