Downingtown West Girls Wrestling

The Lady Whippets put together a strong performance at the 2026 Battle for the Buck tournament. With 30 teams entered, Downingtown West finished inside the Top 10, a major accomplishment that reflects the growth, toughness, and grit of our girls’ program.

The day was highlighted by a tournament champion, a runner‑up, and several athletes battling deep into consolations. Multiple wrestlers also picked up bonus‑point wins against high‑level opponents. The girls continue to raise the standard each week.

🥇 1st Place Finishers

Sarah Pearson – 136 lbs

Sarah dominated her bracket with four straight falls, including a pin in the finals over a 15–2 opponent. She spent less than seven minutes of total mat time on her way to the championship.
Record: 4–0 (all pins)

🥈 2nd Place Finishers

Avery Dunn – 142 lbs (3–1)

Avery battled her way to the finals with two pins and a DQ win. She finished 2nd after falling to a strong OJR opponent by tech fall.
Record: 3–1

🏅 6th Place Finishers

Layla Namerow – 130 lbs (5–1*)

Layla tore through the consolation bracket with four wins, including two tech falls and multiple pins.
She qualified for the 5th‑place match, but PIAA match‑count regulations prevented her from wrestling an additional bout, resulting in a default 6th‑place finish.
