Souderton Big Red Girls Invitational

The girls traveled to Souderton High School for their fourth event of the season, and it was a solid showing for our mostly novice and relatively small squad! We had six athletes competing, and the team landed in about 24th place among 40 teams – not bad at all! Maddie O’Brien started her weekend strong with a pin by cradle. Avery Dunn had a great showing with a 3-2 record for the day, and Sarah Pearson pinned her way to the finals, where she took down Owen J. Roberts' Raylyn Schowoyer with a decision.

Souderton Big Red Duals

For our West Boys Varsity, the Souderton Big Red Duals always brings great competition, and this weekend was no exception. While our team win-loss record wasn't what we hoped for, many of our wrestlers had some amazing wins and showed grit and heart on the mat all day. Downingtown faced off against:

Round 1- Timberlane HS: Wins came from Shafer, Nate, and Ryder with pins, and Mason, Ani, and Finn with wins by decision. Timberlane 40, Downingtown West 27
Round 2- Northeast High School West: Northeast secured nine wins by pin, with Hoffman, M. Sigle, Schwanke, Landrum, B. Sigle, Schrichimini, Letscher, McGovern, and Wood all getting pins, and two additional wins by MacInnis and R. Harlan. Downingtown West 63, Northeast High 11
Round 3- Springford High School West: Spring-Ford took five wins, with three pins from Shaefer Hoffman, Mason Sigle, and Brayden Sigle, and two decisions from Connor Schwanke and Finn McGovern. Spring-Ford 43, Downingtown West 24
Round 4- Saucon Valley West: Saucon Valley secured six wins, with three decisions from Cole Harlan, Nate Letscher, and Dom Wood, and three pins from Shaefer Hoffman, Mason Sigle, and Brayden Sigle. Saucon Valley 42, Downingtown West 27

We're not shying away from tough competition – we're prepping and building, and that means taking on the best. Our wrestlers worked hard today, showing areas for growth and success. Up next, West takes on Avon Grove at home for Senior Night on January 14th, then travels to Exeter on Saturday for the annual Blue and White duals, where the JV and varsity squads will have the opportunity to compete.
