Downingtown West faced off against West Chester East on Wednesday, January 7th, delivering an exciting night of wrestling at their first dual of the 2025-26 season. Our JV team set the tone early, capturing impressive victories and personal wins.

The dual began at 139 pounds, with Brayden Sigle securing a second-period fall over Luke Federici. Although West faced some challenging matches, wrestlers like Schinchirimini, Williams, Moyers, and Letscher fought hard to minimize East's scoring by only taking losses by decision. Dom Wood turned the tide at 215 pounds, earning a decision over Kevin Rivas and narrowing the gap to a 9-17 deficit.

As we moved into the lighter weight classes, Shaefer Hoffman capitalized on a forfeit, bringing the score to 15-23. West then rallied with a series of victories: Mason Sigle pinned Christian Ipri in the second period, Patrick Markey delivered a technical fall over Cole Verbos. Connor Schwanke secured the West win with a first period fall over D.J. Munoz, bringing the team score to 32-23. Michael Landrum wrapped up the night with a victory over Mu’Tazz Hussein, sealing the final score at 35-23.

Looking ahead, West is gearing up to travel to Souderton for the Big Red Duals on Saturday. The team is eager to host Avon Grove next Wednesday for Senior Night Ceremonies, where we’ll celebrate the dedication and hard work of our senior athletes.
